The Band History

In the year 1999 two “grown up boys” from Breidholt and Kópavogur (near Reykjavik), Iceland met in Copenhagen and became friends. After once discussing the punk era and finding out they both liked that kind of music they decided to do something about it. One of them knew some other Icelandic big boys who got “a big shock” out of punk music and in the early year 2000 they all got together and after some name changing the band GeirF…. became a reality. In GeirF…. were Biggi “Madman” (vocals), Skari “Punk”(guitar/harmonica), Egill “Hashish” (guitar), Snorri “clitoris”(drums), and Siggi “Acid”(bass) and they took their nicknaming very seriously ;) . In the end of September same year, Snorri stopped because of physical exertion and the danger of permanent hearing damage, and Egill was “fired” because of musical differences. It’s a long story. Shortly after that he moved to Iceland. If that was because of the band or something else I guess we’ll never know.
The remaining few decided to find some fresh blood and got hold of Siggi “Speedy” (drums) and Nonni “Cool”(guitar), who had worked with Biggi “Madman” earlier in the band Blodmör (Haggis) 1997 to 1999 in Copenhagen. Blóðmör had played its last gig (which was a blast) and it was decided to melt these two groups into one super group….

After 4 concerts Siggi “Speed” stopped suddenly in June 2001. A new drummer was soon behind the set, his name: Unnsteinn “Animal”. Then in December Dóri “Heavy” joined the band with the third guitar. At first the plan was only to use him as a substitute for Jon (Nonni) who was going to South America for 5 month but as the sound seamed to work with the three (unusual as that may sound) guitars it was decided to make him a full member. . At that time Hekkenfeld recorded their first demo. Now they had to find a new substitute for Jon and Tryggvi an old punk freak from Kópavogur was sworn in.

In April 2002 Siggi “Acid” left the band and in his place on the Bass came Stefán Sigurðsson who had among other things played in the band Kirsuber (Cherry) in Iceland. In 2003 Dóri moved to Iceland and quit. So to make a long story short this is what the band looks today: Biggi (vocals), Jon (guitar/vocals), Óskar (guitar/harmonica), Unnsteinn (drums) and Stebbi (Bass). At the moment the band is not working because the members ar buisy making other plans…..but like the Icelandic Volcano Hekla, you never know when Hekkenfeld erupts again!
That is the Hekkenfeld Story for now.
Take care.
………… Hey! Psssst!

We almost forgot our indispensable roady and soundman Dr.Stein. He came into the story in the spring 2001 and has been a crucial figure ever since.
